I'm Shallon the founder of Rack+Ruin, which I started in 2009 after I graduated from fashion design school at Okanagan Fashion Institute in Kelowna, BC.

From flea markets and trunk shows in Australia to an upscale boutique in Saskatoon. From vintage on eBay to handmade on Etsy, I've tried many facets of sales in several different places working alongside a lot of great people. But currently I am fortunate enough to be working in a studio space inside my home in small town Saskatchewan fulfilling most of my orders online, selling to local shoppers as well as shipping to various parts of the world.

When I started in this business I set out to try and do it differently and believed that one of the most superficial industries in the world didn't have to be. So whether that's spending a little more and buying high quality clothing or spending a little less and buying pre-loved, Rack+Ruin supports ethical fashion. All of my pieces are original handcrafted designs or carefully curated vintage items. And just recently I've gotten into furnishings as well as fashion.

While my brand has evolved a lot over the years, I am starting to find my niche and I'm really grateful for all the new and continued support from my customers and followers.

These days you can find me in my 1930’s fixer-upper in Eston, Saskatchewan with my furbaby French Bulldog sophie and a big, beautiful backyard filled with gardens, fish, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

I’m a vintage junkie as you will see if you come to my home, I love to collect vintage furniture, objects, and beautiful clothing, some which I keep for myself and the rest I am fortunate enough to have this wonderful platform to share the love with all of you! I feel most inspired in nature or in a fabric store and I am happiest being creative and working with women who empower me.

For now I'll end this with a quote relevant for the times that reads, "Supporting another's success won't ever dampen your own." And I think that's a really important message to spread. We live in a very competitive society with the need to have the best and be the best, but there's room for all of us!

Much Love x
